Tube type lightning arrester: mainly composed of porcelain sleeve, arc extinguishing tube and internal and external clearance. The pipe-type lightning arrester will emit high-pressure gas when it acts, so there shall be no grounded metal or other electrical equipment within a certain range below the nozzle, and no one is allowed to pass. It is mainly used to protect the substation into the line and line insulation weak.

Valve type arrester: mainly composed of porcelain sleeve, spark gap and non-linear resistance (such as silicon carbide resistor). The valve type arrester is connected in parallel with the protected equipment. Under the action of overvoltage, the spark gap is broken down, the resistance of the nonlinear resistor is reduced, and the lightning current is introduced into the earth. It is widely used in substations and distribution stations and other places.

Zinc oxide arrester: has excellent nonlinear volt-ampere characteristics, good response characteristics, no freewheeling, large flow capacity, low residual pressure, strong ability to suppress overvoltage and so on. The zinc oxide arrester does not require a series gap, so it has the advantages of simple structure, light weight and long life. It is widely used in the protection of high-voltage transmission lines, substations and other equipment.
